What are the Differences between conventional fire alarms and addressable fire alarm systems? In today's world, fire alarm systems have become a staple in public places due to the increased risk of fire outbreaks in modern buildings. Fire outbreaks caused by faulty electrical appliances, gas explosions, and car accidents are now prevalent in many places. Fortunately, conventional fire alarm systems offer a reliable solution to this problem. The solution includes early fire detection and response. So if you want to install a fire alarm system in your building, we must discuss some key differences between conventional fire alarms and addressable fire alarm systems.
The conventional alarm system is a type of fire alarm system that uses a series of detectors and alarms to detect the presence of fire and alert building occupants to evacuate. The conventional fire alarm system features a control panel, alarm zones, or sounder circuits. These circuits control the detectors and manual call points and the fire alarm sounders and Visual Alarm Devices (VADS). The addressable fire alarm system, sometimes called the intelligent fire alarm system, on the other hand, is a type of fire alarm system that detects and precisely locates fires or faults within a building. The addressable or intelligent fire alarm system is very different from the conventional alarm system, even though they perform the same function in that they are both fire detectors. Both share similar functions however, our concern here is the difference between conventional fire alarm systems and addressable fire alarm systems.
Conventional fire alarms separate buildings into different zones and connect each to a separate detection circuit. If a fire happens in one of the zones, the alarm goes off, but it can't tell you where the fire is specifically in that zone. On the other hand, Addressable fire alarms are more advanced and tell you exactly where the fire is located. They use computers and fancy tech to give each detector or device a unique address. When something is triggered, the system can show you exactly where it's coming from on the control panel. This helps you find the fire faster and keeps everyone safer.
While the conventional fire alarm system controls the alarms manually, the addressable fire alarm system controls the alarm automatically.
Conventional fire alarm systems are not expensive due to their design and technology. In contrast, addressable fire alarm systems are relatively costly due to the highly sophisticated technology.
While conventional alarms are best suited to small buildings, addressable alarms are ideal for large buildings.
One advantage of conventional al arm systems over their addressable counterpart is that it is easy to operate.
